Kayaking and Camping in Sechelt Inlet
Every year many kayakers head to Tuwanek for overnight trips to camp in Sechelt Inlet. Unlike the outside waters, Sechelt inlet remains mostly unfettered of private ownership so going ashore to explore and camp/picnic is always an option. There are 7 different camping / picnicking areas in Sechelt Inlets Marine Provincial Park with about 60 walk in sites…water access only. Campfires are permitted in fire rings or on the beach below the high tide line and pit toilets are provided.
A unique feature of the inlet is the fact that on our frequent calm days the depths below you are quite visible with the abundant sea life often on display from a slow moving kayak or canoe. If you are of a more adventurous nature an evening paddle often reveals the phenomenal bio luminescence in the low light of dusk…very exciting if you’ve never seen it before.
The Inlet Hideaway vacation rental cottage is just 100’ from Lamb Bay or Tuwanek Spit as the locals call it, for easy access to launch your kayak. If you plan to do some kayaking during your stay, this is the best place for it!
